Scenario Alert!


wWe've been playing HeroScape for a while, and some seem to think that it would be a good idea to mix things up a bit, and to add a scenario to the mix. And you know what, I totally agree! What we need are some objectives, you know, to keep things fresh. With that in mind, our illustrious Greg Vallee (one of two winners last week incidentally, the other being his son Dillon) has found the following scenario for us.

Quest for the Temple of Heroes

The objective of this game is to obtain the Temple of Heroes which will be located in the centre of the board. You must then place it on the throne marker of an army on the opposite side of the board. This piece contains great powers and will give you ultimate victory over every army on the board provided you survive the quest!

Each army will start by placing all pieces no more than 2 tiles from the edge of the board. Your Throne marker has to be placed in among the starting point of your army and on an outside edge tile.

- You can pick up the Temple simply by moving your piece on a tile next to it. Once the Temple is acquired your move is done. For example if your piece has a move of 5 and you are beside the Temple after you move 1 tile, that is the end of you turn.

- Once a piece has obtained the Temple the only way it can lose the temple is by being destroyed. The Temple may not be passed to another member of your army while the piece carrying it still exists.

- When the piece with the Temple has finished moving it may place the Temple on any open adjacent tile.

- Placing the Temple on the enemies Throne is done by moving your piece adjacent to their Throne marker.

- Any piece carrying the Temple loses all special abilities.

- The piece carrying the Temple also has its move number cut in half. If that number ends in a remainder of .5 such as 5 divided by 2 equals 2.5 then the following applies. If the piece is a medium or small you round the number down and if large you round the number up.

Now, I realize that this may not appeal to everyone, so we'll likely run one table with the scenario, and one table without. Those who want to mix it up can, and those who are still getting to know the game's mechanics and the pieces can play a regular "elimination" style game. Sound good?
